A Community of Readers

One District-One Book Postscript, February 11, 2011:

Our "Princely Party" on February 9 was a terrific event! We had over 90 participants who played Little Prince Jeopardy, designed royal postcards, created magnificent crowns, flew paper airplanes through the desert and planted very special flowers. After the activities, we gathered in the Palos South Commons to distribute raffle prizes and view videos showing student projects. Many thanks to everyone who participated in this One District-One Book Community Reading Project!

Our chapter activities, podcasts and quotations will remain online in this blog for everyone to enjoy and for other schools to use or adapt. Please take some time to view our student projects on our district website.

Closing Remarks

Chapter Podcast by Mrs. Judith Schramm, Palos South Teacher, Eighth Grade Language Arts Quotations Podcast by Ms. Sheila Stull, Palos South Speech Pathologist

Chapter Quote:
"This is, to me, the loveliest and saddest landscape in the world."

Think & Read:
Is there a place you always remember where something special happened in your life?  ...a place where you would tell others, "Do not hurry on."

Optional Activities:
1)  Rewrite the end of the story.
2)  Put the character of the Little Prince into another story you have read.
3)  Make a picture book with the Little Prince as a main character - you can use an online picture book maker such as Storybird if you wish.
4)  Design a new cover for the book.
