A Community of Readers

One District-One Book Postscript, February 11, 2011:

Our "Princely Party" on February 9 was a terrific event! We had over 90 participants who played Little Prince Jeopardy, designed royal postcards, created magnificent crowns, flew paper airplanes through the desert and planted very special flowers. After the activities, we gathered in the Palos South Commons to distribute raffle prizes and view videos showing student projects. Many thanks to everyone who participated in this One District-One Book Community Reading Project!

Our chapter activities, podcasts and quotations will remain online in this blog for everyone to enjoy and for other schools to use or adapt. Please take some time to view our student projects on our district website.

Chapter 1 Podcast by Mr. Ron Cozza, Palos West Principal

"All grown-ups were children first..."

Think & Read:
Use your imagination and look at the clouds.  What do you see?  If you see a dog and a friend sees a sailing ship, is your friend wrong?  Are you?

Optional Activities:

  1. I am so excited that we are all doing this.

I think people see things very differently. If you ask three middle school to describe the same event, usually there will be different things described in each interpretation. As I get ready for the play, it is funny how everyone who watches us practice ends up talking to me about something they saw that was different. If we collectively use all of our information and insights together, we will get the most accurate portrayal.
